A Berry Merry Christmas

Posted in Food, Recipes by sophie

Cranberries are the tart fruit that work in savory and sweet recipes. No need to wait until you’re eating turkey again to enjoy the canned version of the red berry, here are a few recipes you’ll want to try before Christmas. Maybe even save a few for your holiday dinner.

If you need a stuffing alternative, go with efh_08’s Wild Rice Pilaf. Nuts and berries give this tasty side crunch and flavor. This is a side dish that pairs well with anything from fish to chicken or turkey. If you want to stick to a traditional stuffing with a twist, then try gspiezia’s Spiced Apple Sausage Stuffing with Cranberries and Brandy.

The best gift to give away during the holiday season is one that’s baked with love, can’t argue with that, especially when it’s sweet and delicious. I like how Gonnawantseconds wraps up her Bar Cookies with a green bow, but, even served up on their own, these cranberry filled bars topped with a lemony glaze will dress up any dessert plate. For the cupcake fans, we’ve also got Samma721’s Cranberry Orange Cupcakes.

If you need a fruity drink to serve up next to the egg nog this year, think about preparing CorbettCook’s Winter Fruit Sangria. Though the brandy gives it a kick, make it non-alcoholic by substituting it with refreshing sparkling water.
